Thane, the city of lakes


Thane is a popular city in Indian state of Maharashtra, on the head of the Thane creek. Thane is popularly known as the Elder sister of Mumbai. This region is popularly called as the city of lakes because there are more than 30 lakes are situated in the city and around the areas. Mumbai is heavily depend on thane for water supply from the lakes and apart from being an source of water, these lakes in Thane are famous tourists attractions.
 The biggest claim to fame is that the first railway laid in India was from Boribandar to thane station. These city is slightly cooler than Mumbai and the areas surrounding the city are beautiful, the scenic locales, old forts, boat rides and some famous resorts make Thane a gateway to Mumbai. Thee are number of tourists attractions and tourists destinations in this city and therefore the city is visited by number of tourists every month.

Thane is one of the best places to live in nearby areas of Mumbai away from the crowd of the Mumbai.  Thane is easy to reach and connected by all the transport facilities such as public buses, local trains and auto rikshaws. There are many public buses available that connect Thane with the other parts of the state and locals trains of Mumbai usually travel to and from this region. Many taxis and auto rikshaws are available for traveling within the city.
