A visit to Ratnagiri


Ratnagiri is the District and a popular city in Indian state of Maharashtra famous for its beautiful places and tourists attractions that includes ancient forts, monuments, temples, lush green valleys and natural beautiful places. Ratnagiri is known for tourism and for farming of Alphonso Mango, nut, rice and coconut. This city is known for its beautiful weather and pleasant environment. This land is blessed with magnificent hills, mesmerizing waterfalls, ancient beautiful forts, religious temples, lush green valleys and everything a tourists want in a tourist destinations.
As this land is situated on the western coastal line, Ratnagiri is blessed with virgin beaches that offer a fantastic sight of ancient fort overlooking the harbour besides its silvery sands. For nature lovers this is the dream destination which is birthplace of so many well known Indians who had lost their life. This city is one of the most popular tourist’s destinations in India as having number of tourist’s places in and in the nearby areas.  There are number of tourist’s attractions in Ratnagiri that are visited by thousands of tourists every year.

Tourist’s attractions in Ratnagiri

·         Jaigad Fort - Jaigad fort is a sea fort located in Ratnagiri District. The fort is cuddled on a cliff which overlooks a bay. This fort is very beautiful and located on coastline of Arabian Sea. I always wanted to visit this fort.
·         Ganpatipule Temple - This beach is very clean with fine silvery white land and the temple is located on the seashore dedicated to Lord Ganesh. The Ganpati is swayambhu in this temple means self manifested.
·         Thibaw Point - This is the point where the lovely mansion, Thibaw palace is located. The palace is famed as an exile shelter of the king and queen of Burma.
·         Ratnadurg Fort – This fort is also known as Bhagwati fort because a beautiful small temple is located in the middle of the fort. The fort is surrounded by sea from all sides.


There are many more places to visit in Ratnagiri but these are some of the most visited ones. For a tourists and a nature lover Ratnagiri is the best place to explore. The ancient forts are marvellous and the hidden places in forts are very exciting to explore. Ratnagiri is easy to reach as we can get buses from Mumbai, Pune and many big cities of Maharashtra. For accommodation, there are number of hotels and lodges are available and you can get every range of hotels in Ratnagiri from budget to five stars. So come and visit this beautiful city.
