Mysore, most significant city of Karnataka



Mysore city is among the most captivating holiday destinations in South India. Mysore city is the second most important city in Karnataka which is having splendid cultural heritage and panoramic palaces to religious attractions and glorious gardens and exceptionally colorful crafts.
The city is among the most significant cities in Indian state of Karnataka, which is about 145 kilometers away from the capital Bangalore. The city is known with various names such as City of Gardens, Coty of palaces, Ivory City, city of Yoga and cultural capital of Karnataka. Mysore get holds most of the tourists and travelers hearts with its beauty and peaceful, unhurried and relaxing pace. There are number of tourist’s attractions in Mysore that includes Mysore palace, Mysore zoo, Chamundi hills and Brindavan Garden and many more. The city is full of tourist’s destinations.

Tourist’s attractions in Mysore

·         Mysore Palace – Mysore palace which is also known Mysore Maharaja Palace is the most visited palaces in India. This monument is situated in the heart of the city which was the residence of Charmaraja Wodeyar. This palace is built Indo-Saracenic style which blends together Hindu, Muslim, Rajput and Gothic styles of architecture.  This palace is the priceless national treasure and the pride of the kingdom.
·         Brindavan Garden – Brindavan garden is located adjoining to the Krishnarajsagara Dam which is built across the Kaveri River. The garden has Botanical Park with fountains and also the boat ride beneath the dam. The main attraction of this garden is musical fountains in which water bursts are synchronized with the music of the song.
·         Chamundi Hills – Chamundi Hill is situated around 8 to 10 kilometers from the Mysore city. At the top of the hill the temple of Goddess Chamundeshwari is located. The temple was always patronized by rulers of the Kingdom. In the front of the temple there is huge statue of Nandi, Lord Shiva’s Bull, which is largest in India.

·        Mysore Zoo – mysore zoo is the oldest zoo in India having wide range of wild species with rich breed of flora and fauna. Every visitor in Mysore never returns without visiting this zoo. This zoo covers many rare species of wild animals not only from India but also from all over the world. This zoo is considered as the best and the oldest zoo in India.

·        Shivanasamudra Falls – This fall is situated 85 kilometers from the Mysore and 139 Km from the Bangalore city. Shivanasamudra fall means sea of Shiva. This fall divides the Cauvery River into two different falls which creates captivating sights. This fall is considered among 100 best waterfalls in the world.
There are many more places to visit in this city. The city is full of tourist’s destinations. If you are visiting Mysore then come for at least a week because you cannot complete all the attractions in one day.

How to Reach?

Mysore is well connected to all the cities by road. Mysore is 139 Km south west of Bangalore. Buses runs by Karnataka Road Transport Corporation are connected to this city and buses are continuously available from Bangalore to Mysore. Private buses which include semi-luxury and luxury are also available to and from Bangalore. From Mysore bus stand you can take taxis and auto rikshaws to reach to the parts of this city. Mysore is connected by train to Bangalore. The super express Shatabdi express is available for Mysore which connects it to Madras. And travelling to Mysore by train via Bangalore is the best way to reach Mysore. Mysore is having their own small domestic airport but still no flights are operated from this airport. Bangalore is the nearest airport to this city.

Mysore is the top tourist’s destination in South India and having number of tourist’s attractions. Therefore hotels in Mysore are always in demand. There are number of good hotels in this region, you can get hotels from budget to five stars. It is always advisable to book hotels in advance because you can find hotels are already booked here and you have to wait until other room is available.

Mysore the city of palaces is always the best option for holiday destinations. This city is visited by thousands of tourists every month. The best time to visit Mysore is in the Dasara festival which is the biggest festival of the city. So if you are visiting Karnataka then never return without visiting Mysore.
