Nagpur, City of Oranges



Nagpur, a vivacious city and winter capital of Maharashtra, popular for having Zero Mile, centre of the Country and often known as Orange city because of its high production of oranges. This is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and the third largest city in Maharashtra located on the banks of River Nag because of which the city got its name as Nagpur. Nagpur is popular city in the whole country and in Maharashtra because it has occupied the seat of winter session of Maharashtra state assembly. The city ranked as the cleanest and second greenest city of the country.
Nagpur city was found by Gonds and later it was the part of Maratha Empire. The city is recently declared as the Tiger capital of India and also it is among the top IT sectors in Maharashtra. This city is famous throughout the country because it lies at the centre of India with Zero Mile marker which indicates the geographical centre of India. The Orange city is dotted with the splendid vistas of nature bounty, beautiful lakes and gardens. The city is one of the attractions of tourists.
Tourists attractions in Nagpur
·         Deekshabhumi – Deekshabhumi is the largest dome shaped monument is located in Nagpur city. This place is very important for Dalit Buddhist community. Every year on Vijayadashami that is Daserra thousands of Buddhist people and followers of Ambedkar visit this place.

·         Ganesh Tekadi Mandir – This temple is the most famous temple in Nagpur city. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu Lord Ganesha and this is one of the Swyambhu temples that is self manifested. Hundreds of devotees visit this temple every day and on Chaturthi thousands of devotees come to the temple.
·         Futala Lake – This Lake is very popular in the city and especially among the youngsters. You can find number of young people in the evening and in the night on this lake. Futala Lake is decked up with beautiful environment and colour fountains. The place is very beautiful in the evening.

·         Balaji mandir – Balaji temple is located in the very tranquil and scenic seminary hills region and is dedicated to the Lord Balaji. The structure of this temple is one of the finest architectural instances and there is also the statue of Lord Kartikeya.
·         Dragon Palace Temple – This temple is a famous Buddhist temple situated in Kamptee and this is popular for its architecture and the landscape gardens surrounding and also for the tranquillity of this place.
Transportation facility
Nagpur city is the divisional head for Central Railways and having one of the major railway stations in Maharashtra with total 160 train’s stops at this station. This station is well connected to all parts of the country and there are number of trains available from and to the city. Nagpur Metro Rail project is in process and soon it will start the construction. This city is the major junction for roadways in India because two national highways are passing though Nagpur city. Buses runs by MSRTC are well connected to all major cities of the country as well of the state and within the city there are number of buses available. Private buses are also available in the city for travelling to the parts of the State. For transport within the city taxis and auto rikshaws are available. Nagpur is having one of the busiest airports in India with more than300 flights flying over the city every day. Nagpur is currently working on the economic boom MIHAN project which is under development.

Nagpur is one of the tourists attraction and famous because of number of reasons. This city is visited by many tourists everyday and therefore hotels and lodges for accommodation in the city is the prime need and the city fulfills this need as there are number of good hotels available in the city.
