Chatrapti Shivaji Terminus, Historic Railway station in Mumbai



Chatrapati Shavaji Terminus which is formerly known as Victoria terminus is an outstanding example of Gothic style of Architecture in India located in Boribandar. This terminus is a world heritage site of architecture which was built in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, which is a fusion of Gothic style of Architecture and Indian traditional style.
Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus is the first and the best products of use of industrial revolution technology merged with the Gothic style revival. This historic railway station serves as the headquarters of Central Railways in Mumbai. This railway station attracts many tourists because its structure is well constructed using high level of engineering both in terms of Civil and railway engineering. Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus has total 18 platforms from which 7 are for locals and 11 for long distances. In the nearby areas of CST there are number of tourist’s spots such as Flora Fountain, Elephanta Caves, Haji Ali Dargah and many more.

·         Flora Fountain – Flora fountain is a fusion of water, sculpture, architecture and depicts of Roman Goddess Flora. This exquisitely sculpted architectural heritage monument is located at Hutatma Chauk.
·         Gateway of India – Gateway of India is a monument built during British Raj which was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen mary at Apollo Bandar where this huge structure is located.

·         Hotel Taj – Taj Mahal palace is a five star hotel located in Colaba region of Mumbai situated next to the Gateway of India. From historical and structural point of view Hotel Taj is very famous and for watching its structure many tourists visit this region.
·         Haji Ali Dargah – This dargah and mosque is a recognizable landmark of Mumbai city located on an islet off the coast of Worli. This Dargah is one of the beautiful places of the city where number of Muslim people visit and many tourists also visit many times.

·         Elephanta Caves – Elephanta Caves are a network of sculpted caves located on an arm of Arabian Sea. These caves are very famous tourists spot and number of tourists visits these caves because this is the only place in Mumbai city where you can get tranquility.

Chatrapati Shivaj Terminus is a very important in the Mumbai city and this terminus is  the most busiest railway station in India as there are millions of people daily travel through railways and locals in Mumbai are very important as these locals keep the city running as thousands of people daily travel within the city. From this terminus you can take taxi or auto rikshaw for travelling within the city.
Many tourists come to visit Mumbai as this city is the financial capital of the country and there are many places that are tourist’s locations and because of which Mumbai city is very famous and number of tourists visit this entertainment capital of India.
