Shirdi, Popular pilgrimage place in India



Shirdi is a town in Ahmadnagar district in Indian state of Maharashtra which is 100 kilometer from Nashik and a popular pilgrimage centre in India. Shirdi was home to Shri Sai Baba, a great saint of 20thcentury and the temple situated in this town is dedicated to Shri Sai Baba that was built over the Samadhi of Sai Baba.
The Sai Baba temple is very popular throughout the country and millions of devotees visit this temple every year to pay their respect to Sai Baba. Sai Baba was very popular saint and Lord Sai lived till his death in a mosque in Shirdi temple. The whole Shirdi village and every corner of this village is blessed with the wishes of Shri Sai Baba. The town is easy to reach as well as for accommodation there are number of comfortable options available.

In the beginning of eighteenth century, a young bearded man came to Shirdi and took a shelter in a mosque. No one knows this man who hardly speaks a single word. Gradually, the villagers started offering him food and asking him about his home and family but Baba never talk to anyone and sooner baba started expressing is viewpoints with few elderly peoples and his simple language of expressing and his special powers of solving problems made him from less known to be Shri Sai Baba. Sai Baba performed many miracles to help needy and poor peoples and as it is said that all good things have to end one day, Baba also left his boy on his own and he has asked his followers to lay his boy in a mosque and his disciples built this temple over his Samadhi in Shirdi.
Shridi is easy to reach from all over the country. The town is well connected by all the transport mediums by road, by train and by air also. By road, there are many buses available to Shirdi from Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Ahmadnagar and many major cities of India. Shirdi has a railway station called Sainagar Shirdi which is well connected to all the major cities of India and this is a convenient way to reach Shirdi. If you are coming by flight then Shirdi airport at Kakdi about 15 km from the city is being constructed.

For accommodation, Shirdi is having Bhaktaniwas, a lodge provided by the temple committee in cheap rates but because of many devotees it is hard to find rooms available here and therefore most of the tourists find hotels nearby areas of the temple and there are many hotels available in this region range from budget to five star and provide excellent facility to the devotees. Most of the tourists prefer online hotels booking in Shirdi as the demand for hotels is very large.

This temple is very important in India and once in lifetime one should visit the temple to experience the power of Shri Sai Baba which we can feel in every part of the village.
